The Only International Market for Independent & Local Broadcasters
June 12 - 15, 2002
Vevey - [Lake Geneva] - Switzerland
Although our MITIL 02 website may sport a new look, the mission of MITIL remains the same, namely, to provide the annual networking platform for:
- independent producers and programme makers
- local/regional broadcasters and independent webcasters
MITIL is the ONLY Annual Event to give priority to the progamme and equipment needs of local and independent TV, Radio and Webcasting companies. Traditional audiovisual events have, until now, focussed on the main private or public networks. The time has come for the "low power" producers to meet and work in their own market with "high energy"!
Participants will also be interested to hear that UNESCO, which has honoured MITIL 02 with its patronage, has confirmed its participation in one of the MITIL Workshop sessions which will deal with local programmes and UNESCO's initial experiences in Africa in relation to the "CMC - Community Multimedia Centers".
Just to remind you - the MITIL 02 Discussion Forums and Conferences will have a new style programming.
There will be two main tracks, one on TV, the other on Radio, each with its own Workshops, Seminars, Forums, Conferences & Round Tables. The main themes and provisional programme listing are to be found here.

The Founders and Organisers of the Golden Beggar - International Festival of Local TV Broadcasters, Kosice, Slovakia and MITIL, Vevey, Switzerland, have concluded a Partnership AGREEMENT effective as from 2002.
This Agreement has been reached with a view to :
- connecting broadcasters at local level
- building a bridge between local/regional broadcasters from Eastern & Central
Europe and the rest of the audiovisual world
- linking local broadcasters to a global network
- filling the "east/west" cultural gap
The following constitute the basis of the Parnership Agreement signed by both parties:
TV Programmes
Subject to the approval of the producers concerned, a selection of programmes registered at one event will, at no additional charge, be registered at the other;
Awards
Each of the two events will offer a prize to be awarded at the other;
Discussion Forums, Workshops and Speakers
Privileged contacts with speakers will lead to an extended organisation of the Forums and Workshops at both events;
Participants
Special discounted prices will be offered to participants who attend both events during the same year (MITIL in June and Kosice in October);
Promotion and Sponsorship
A global promotion of both events will make it possible to strengthen partnerships with sponsors and supporting organisations; all ensuing global communication links will also be to their advantage.

One of the particularities of MITIL is that we like to involve all our friends and have them take part, no matter how large or small their contribution may be.
This applies especially to our Discussion Forums and Conferences (3 sections - Workshops, Seminars, Conferences and Round Tables) - be it your wish to propose a technical paper or a topic which you feel MITIL must consider for inclusion in either of its two main streams (television and radio), whether you be a large or small organisation in the manufacturing or management field, a large or small television/radio station, a one-man outfit (or why not? - a one-woman outfit), or simply someone who has a gift for delivering a speech which will keep the participants/delegates rooted to their seats, MITIL wants to hear from you as soon as possible.
As MITIL promises high-level conferences with top-class speakers of international status, and given the very informal social atmosphere which reigns at MITIL, you might just rub shoulders with that person you have always wanted to meet, and, who knows, that same person might be interested in that paper or topic you proposed or in that speech you delivered so well. And that's the essence of MITIL, the event created for YOU to meet and discuss your ideas and solutions with your peers from the industry.
So, do not delay, consult the conferences section where you will find the projected 2002 main themes and a provisional listing of topics. Put on your thinking cap and get those proposals to us, forum@mitil.org

This list is an open forum dedicated to independent producers and local broadcasters, Television and Radio, and has been created to establish valuable links and helpful relations between professionals sharing common concerns - content/programme exchange or trade, co-production plans, camera crews, event announcements, technical issues and challenges - in other words, any topic bearing relation to MITIL's philosophy and programme.
Subscription is FREE OF CHARGE and is NOT related to attendance at the MITIL annual event which takes place every June in Vevey, Switzerland.
This is proving to be very popular with all who have subscribed to date. If you have not already subscribed, why not give it a try? You can always unsubscribe whenever you wish.
Attending the event is, of course, the best way to network and socialise with your peers in the community but if you are unable to be present, stay in tune by subscribing to the MITIL discussion list.
IMPORTANT NOTE
A subscription to this discussion list must NOT be confused with subscribing
to the Newsletter.
They are two distinctly separate subscriptions.
